Safe Haven Shelter accepts donations in many forms - from cash to women's clothing, from household items to office supplies. These donations assist the women while in shelter and as women depart and find stable housing they may take these important items with them as they start their new lives.
Due to overwhelming community generosity, effective October 26, 2011, Safe Haven Shelter is temporarily halting donations of used clothing and household goods. With the holiday season approaching, we are pleased to accept donations of new clothing and household goods and other giftware; we continue to accept personal hygiene products and used cell phones as well. Items can be dropped off at either of our two locations on Saturdays from 9am-4pm. Monetary donations will be accepted at anytime.
Items we cannot accept:
- TVs, microwaves, computers, etc.
- Perfume and mouth wash
- Knives, scissors or other sharp items
- Used clothing and/or household goods (temporarily suspended)
To donate furniture or large items or if you have questions, please contact us at 728-6481.
Cash Donations
Your dollar goes even further with a cash donation due to the nature of our vendor relationships and bulk quantity purchasing. We accept on-line donations through GiveMN.org - click on the icon below to donate today.
Vineyard Church Donates Check:
A big Thank You to Vineyard Church of Duluth for raising so much money for Safe Haven by giving half of their Christmas Eve offering to the shelter. Pictured above is Casey LaCore of Vineyard Church and Susan Utech, Executive Director of Safe Haven.
Cell Phones
Do you have an old cell phone that you're not using? Don't throw it away - donate it to Safe Haven Shelter! With your old cell phone, a battered woman can use this phone to call 911 in an emergency. In addition, as part of our recycling program, old cell phones can generate income to further assist the women and children. Drop offs can be made at Safe Haven Shelter, SuperOne Foods in Superior and Duluth, and at The Duluth Grill.
Goods Donations
If you prefer to donate items or goods, please give us a call at 218-728-6481 to verify our current needs. All items can be dropped off at the Shelter and Family Justice Center directly. Please see below for a general list of these needs.
