We are looking for positive and compassionate individuals to help us increase the care and services we are able to offer survivors in both our Shelter and Resource Center programs.
Help create a warm, “home-like” environment by assisting with meal service for shelter residents. Volunteers prep the kitchen, serve food, and clean up—providing comfort and dignity to survivors while following food safety guidelines. You’ll work alongside Safe Haven advocates, making a real impact by giving staff more time for one-on-one support. Both dinner and lunch service opportunities are available.
Lunch is served daily, 12:00pm - 2:00pm (11:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesdays)
Dinner is serviced daily, 4:30pm - 6:30pm
We request our meal volunteers to commit to one or more days a week. All client-facing volunteers are required to complete a DHS background check, confidentiality training, and Domestic Violence 101 training. Meal service volunteers are also required to complete SERV Safe training.
Support Safe Haven by helping at events—whether it’s one we’re hosting or a community event where we’re tabling. Volunteers assist with promotion, setup, documenting with photos, and sharing enthusiasum for Safe Haven's mission with the community. Your presence helps raise awareness and connect people to life-saving services.
Potential Event Positions:
Registration - assisting at the registration table
Poster Hanging - hang up event posters at pre-determined locations around town
Photography - capture images at events for social media content
Water Station - help at the Safe Haven water station during Grandma's Marathon
Misc. - interested in hearing anything that might come up for event help
All client-facing and Safe Haven representing volunteers are required to complete a background check (which background check and level of additional training will be based upon the level of public/client interaction anticipated).
Help keep our Shelter and Resource Center safe and welcoming by assisting with cleaning tasks as needed. Volunteers may help with tidying common areas, organizing supplies, or light cleaning projects. Your support ensures a comfortable environment for survivors and staff.
All volunteers located at either the Shelter or the Resource Center are required to complete a DHS background check, confidentiality training, and Domestic Violence 101 training.
Provide care and support for children while their parent or guardian accesses Safe Haven services. Volunteers help create a safe, nurturing environment through play, activities, and supervision. Your role allows parents to focus on healing and resources, knowing their children are in good hands.
All volunteers located at either the Shelter or the Resource Center are required to complete a DHS background check, confidentiality training, and Domestic Violence 101 training.
Help us create fun and unique buttons to share at events! There are two ways you can get involved:
Cutting Out - cut out the already designed and printed circles that will be made into buttons
Design - help us designed various button themes
Both of these can be done at home on your own time.
